Web site offers free trees, plants
There is such a thing as a free bunch -- of flowers, trees and shrubs -- thanks to a one-of-a-kind program that benefits gardeners, sheltered workshops and the environment.Free Trees and Plants.com, started in February 2004, obtains from growers and nurseries some of the millions of unsold plants that are destroyed each year, hires workers with disabilities to package them and then sends the plants for free to anyone who orders them at www.freetreesandplants.com. Maintaining financial sanity
1. Create a holiday budget. Be sure to consider the additional expenses that come with the season such as decorations, food, cards, postage, wrapping paper, travel, etc. 2. Take a gift list with the names and planned dollar amount with you to the store. This can help prevent you from overspending, or purchasing gifts you didn't plan on buying. 3. Pay with cash only. It will help you prevent spending what you don't really have. Read more...
